Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be covered during the session?

Yes! You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on at that moment will be exposed. You will be covered by sheets and a blanket during your session. We do not tolerate nudity on top of the blankets. We do ask clients to keep their underwear on for sanitary purposes, but if you prefer to not wear any inform your practioner at the beginning of the session so that they do not accidently expose you in any way.

*We have a strict sexual harassment policy and absolutely no behavior of that matter will be tolerated. Your session will end immediately and you will be charged the full price of your service.*

What parts of my body will be massaged?

Depending on your preferences, we offer upper body sessions that include the neck, back, shoulders, hips, glutes, arms, hands and base of the skull/scalp massage. We also offer full body sessions that include all those areas along with the fronts and the backs of the legs.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?

A relaxing massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session will start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Firmer pressure can be added to work stubborn spots out. Stretches and manipulations are also performed. You will need to communicate directly with your therapist on how you are feeling. If you feel any discomfort, please speak up so that another approach may be taken to relieve the area. Your therapist will ask you during the session how the pressure is as they move on to new or sensitive areas. Do not be afraid to speak up and let them know if they're applying too much pressure. Communication is key with body works!

What is cupping and what does it feel like?

Cupping therapy is an ancient Asian form of alternative medicine in which a practioner puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. With the cups we are able to grab ahold of the tissue and provide a deep muscle stretch by using the "dragging technique". The therapist would latch a cup onto your problem areas, and "drag" the cup over the area for a few minutes. This is a slightly aggressive form of massage therapy, but it has amazing and immediate results. Some clients think that it feels good,  while others tolerate the feeling because they know its beneficial. It feels like a pinching and pulling sensation. After the area has been "dragged" the practioner will place stagnant and tighter cups on the area, and leave them there for 5-10 minutes. The suction will help pull fresh blood to the area, promote new cell production, pull toxins out of the muscle and help you heal faster.

What is polarity therapy?

Polarity Therapy is a form of energy/spiritual work. We all have 7 main chakras. A chakra is an energy center. These chakras work in unison to create life force energy. Have you ever just felt a little "off" or felt like everything was going wrong all at once? It is mostly likely an imbalance in your energy fields. With polarity therapy we check every chakra with dousing rods at the beginning of your session to determinate where the problems are and at what chakra. The session then begins and your practioner will balance out and recharge every chakra. At the end of the session the dousing rods are used again to check to make sure that everything is back to where it should be. You can literally see and feel the difference! This session is a hands-off type of therapy. The therapist will hover their hands over you moving them in clockwise and counter clockwise motions to rebalance your energy fields. Hands may be placed on the body for brief periods. Crystals and other tools may be used as well. This therapy (like all of our therapies) specifically cater to each individual's own needs.

What is a hot stone massage?

Your practioner will give you your massage as normal, but they will be using hot stones as extensions of their hands. Hot stones are ran along the body or left stagnant on problem areas. These stones warm your muscles up and helps relieve tension. It also feels great, especially in the colder months!

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?

Most people feel very relaxed. Massage does lower the blood pressure, so we advise you to take your time getting up and getting dressed. You may feel a little dizzy or off balance, but that sensation is very short lived. Most people sleep very well after and feel much less stressed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy,

What does massage do?

Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage will increase blood flow and can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular issues. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, help with depression by releasing endorphins, and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?

Yes! That's why it's imperative that before you begin your session the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required, especially with cardiovascular issues.
